Moudern PC Secures Default Judgments Exceeding $2 Million
Moudern PC successfully obtained two default judgments, each exceeding $2 million, for a client in a civil action involving breach of contract, fraud, and conversion claims.
The dispute arose from a series of commercial transactions in which the client provided funds under agreements concerning the purchase and resale of property. The client alleged that material representations about the transactions were false and that funds, property, and ownership documents were wrongfully withheld.
The firm coordinated repeated service attempts at multiple locations, completed service, and served notices preserving the client’s request for punitive damages. After the defendants failed to appear or respond, Moudern PC secured entry of their defaults and prepared detailed applications for default judgment.
The firm assembled a transaction-by-transaction record using client and counsel declarations, written agreements, bank and payment records, electronic communications, and certified translations. These materials documented the underlying dealings and supported the client’s account of the losses.
The applications included detailed calculations of unpaid principal, applicable repayments and credits, prejudgment interest, and itemized litigation costs. The firm also addressed the factual and legal grounds for punitive damages, requesting an award equal to the compensatory damages sought.
After reviewing the submissions, the court entered both judgments in the amounts requested. Each judgment includes compensatory damages, an equal amount of punitive damages, prejudgment interest, and costs. The court awarded the full amounts requested for each of these components, without reduction.
This result highlights the importance of careful evidence preparation and procedural follow-through in advancing a client’s claims and obtaining meaningful relief.
